Safety features

Every safety feature.
In real time.

A real Safety Agent you can text, an SOS you can send for a friend, alerts that break through Do Not Disturb, and a stream that keeps running whatever app you are in.

An SOS for a friend in 3rd-i: a group text with the friend and a Safety Agent while the dual camera stream floats in picture in picture

Texts with a Safety Agent

A real Safety Agent, one text away.

Connect, and a trained person joins your stream and texts with you, so you never have to say out loud that something is wrong. Trigger an SOS for a friend and the three of you land in one group chat.

SOS for a friend, one group chat

Texts, not a phone call.

Reply when talking out loud is not an option. The agent is watching your stream and your location the whole time, so you only have to type what they cannot see.

The stream keeps going.

Picture in picture keeps your video and location live while you are in Messages, Maps or anything else. Dual camera works in the floating window too.

Friends land in the same chat.

An SOS for a friend opens one group text with them and the agent, so nobody is relaying messages. A four digit PIN cancels it if they turn out to be fine.

Discreet connection to a Safety Agent

Three seconds to a trained person.

One tap sends your live stream, audio and location to a 3rd-i Safety Agent. They watch, they listen, and if it stops being a maybe they hand everything to 911.

  1. The Connect with a Safety Agent confirmation in the 3rd-i app, over a live stream

    Tap connect

From the Go Live sheet, a Lock Screen widget, or the button on any stream.

  2. The 3, 2, 1 countdown overlay while 3rd-i connects a Safety Agent to the stream

    Three, two, one

A short countdown so a pocket tap can be cancelled. Then a real person is on.

  3. A live 3rd-i stream with a Safety Agent connected, and an Invite Others button to bring friends in

    Connected, and not alone

The agent sees both cameras and your location. Invite friends into the same stream.

Discreet by design. Nothing on your screen announces it. The agent can quietly watch and listen with you and escalate the moment it is needed.

Battery shared in real time. While you are connected, the agent sees your battery level, so help is dispatched before a phone dies, not after.

Trigger an emergency for a friend

Raise the alarm for them, from wherever you are.

Calling 911 for someone in another city means the wrong dispatch center, transfers, and a location you cannot see. As an emergency contact you skip all of it.

  1. Choosing which friend needs emergency help from the list of people you are an emergency contact for

    Pick who needs help

Anyone who made you an emergency contact, or from the stream you are watching.

  2. Confirming a friend's last known location on a satellite map, with a Change Location option, before sending the SOS

    Confirm the location

Their last known position, which you can drag to the exact spot inside a large building.

  3. The group text that opens after an SOS for a friend: the friend, the Safety Agent, and a four digit PIN to cancel

    One group chat

You, your friend and the agent, together. If they are fine, their PIN cancels it.

Watching a friend's live 3rd-i stream at night and connecting a Safety Agent to it from the viewer's side

Watching their stream?

Trigger it from the stream itself.

If a friend is live and something looks wrong, you do not have to leave. The SOS on their stream connects a Safety Agent to what you are both already seeing.

  • Their live video and location go with it. If they are not live, their last known location is sent instead.
  • Routed to the right 911 center. The alarm lands at the center that covers where they are, with their location already conveyed.
  • 15 to 45 minutes faster. Dispatchers confirm details with both of you in the chat instead of across three phone calls.

Critical alerts, Apple approved

Breaks through Do Not Disturb.

Your emergency contacts do not get a quiet banner that waits until morning. They get a seven second, amber alert style sound that overrides silent and Do Not Disturb, with your address on it.

A 3rd-i critical alert on an iPhone Lock Screen: Ava connected with a Safety Agent, with her street address
  • Sounds even on silent. A tone that does not respect the mute switch or a Focus.
  • Shows the address. Nobody wastes the first minute asking where you are.
  • Up to five contacts. Choose the people who should get it, and they can trigger an SOS for you too.

The Guide Help to You prompt on a live stream: pin your closest entry and add access notes Entry and Access Details in 3rd-i: a pin dragged to the exact door on a satellite map, with entrance instructions

Pin your entry

Guide help to the right door.

The bigger the building, the more minutes a responder loses finding you. Drop the pin on your closest entrance and leave access notes, and the Safety Agent reads them straight to dispatch.

  • Drag the pin to the exact door, not the building's mailing address.
  • Entrance instructions travel with the alarm: gate codes, which stairwell, which unit.
  • Within 5 to 10 feet indoors with positioning from our partner ELI Technology.

Dual camera and picture in picture

Both cameras. Any app.

Stream the road ahead and your own face at once, then leave the app. The stream floats over Messages, Maps or whatever you open next, like a FaceTime window.

Recordings

Every stream, saved with a transcript and a summary.

Streams record automatically (toggle it in Settings) and save to your Squads. AI writes the transcript and a summary, so evidence review takes a minute instead of an evening. Shared links keep the recording for people without the app.

Reminders and nudges

The app remembers to go live so you do not have to.

A 3rd-i Lock Screen notification: On the move? Go Live! It looks like you're on the move.

Movement detection

When 3rd-i notices you are on the move, a Lock Screen nudge offers to start a stream. Set the hours, or leave it on around the clock.

Go Live Reminder settings: days of the week with heading out and heading back times

Go Live reminders

Pick the days and times you usually head out and come home. The reminder lands on your Lock Screen, two taps from live.

A nudge from a friend on the Lock Screen: Alan Garcia wants you to Go Live

Nudges from your squad

A friend who wants eyes on you sends a nudge. It lands on your Lock Screen and you can go live straight from it, up to twice per session.

Lock Screen widgets

Two taps from a locked phone.

Go Live, SOS and Trigger SOS for a Friend sit directly under the clock. No unlocking, no finding the app, no menus.

  • As little as 2 taps from a locked phone to a live SOS.
  • 3 to 5 seconds from reaching for your phone to a Safety Agent seeing you.
  • Home Screen too. The setup guide in the app walks you through both in under a minute.
